Are your joints stiff in the morning? Do you sweat intensively during the night? Your muscles and joints hurt, but you don’t know what the reason may be? Do you have a (mild) fever, loss of appetite? Does your waist, back or neck hurt?

If you have answered the above questions with a ‘yes’, it is time you pay our specialist a visit!

The term “rheumatism” is a collective name including about 100 different joint and muscle disorders, such as arthritis, spinal diseases, arthritis, spinal, joint degeneration and degenerative changes. The causes of these diseases cannot be specified, it could be down to genetics, environmental factors, stress, lifestyle and diet.

Within the area there are several rheumatic illnesses, the literature distinguishes degenerative and inflammatory changes, so-called soft tissue (connective tissue, muscles, tendons) diseases and diseases affecting the bones as well.

A rheumatologist in the first meeting seeks to get to know the patient’s medical history and perform a physical examination to assess muscle strength, reflexes, joint movements, and get an answer regarding the intensity and quality of the pain.

The specialist shall consult with the patient about the necessary therapy and issues regarding lifestyle change. If it is necessary, the specialist may prescribe physiotherapy to accompany medication. The aim of physiotherapy is decreasing pain and inflammation, improving circulation, relaxation of muscles, increasing muscle strength and stamina. During therapy the patient’s functional abilities are maintained or restored. Therapy allows diseases to be prevented, cured and it also plays an important role in rehabilitation.
